Well, I’m setting on my porch for the first time this year and while it’s not hot, with a sweatshirt, it’s tolerable. Spring is fast coming upon us, not only by the calendar, but by it’s true presence and warm temperatures, blooming trees and flowers. Don’t forget what April showers brings! The clocks have been set forward. Baseball is here and March madness (lasting into April) is behind us. Oh, what do April showers bring? “May Flowers”! And of course we all know what May Flowers brings. June weddings: I bet that wasn’t what you were thinking. OK!!!: They bring (Yah this is old!) “Pilgrims”. OK!, now on to some items of meaning or at least greater interest.

2. It’s great! The new KNFB Mobile (candy bar style phone) that you point and shoot a document and it reads to you. A talking cell phone and a talking GPS with additional software also is possible in this (in your pocket) Swiss army phone. All right, I made that last up. I know you could tell. But at $1,495.00 for the software or $2,095.00 for software and phone, it’s the best bang for your buck, as well as, the best reader on the market. It fit’s in your pocket to boot! Additional talking phone software is available for $300.00. Demo CD(s) are available.
3. The MEE Bus starts it’s fifth year in full operation. If you wish to present a technology day to your students, contact us at MEE Inc. and arrange for a tec day at your ISD or school district for your students and parents. It can come to you. We do ask that you help with gas and driver costs.
4. Upcoming conferences: UP Transition Fair in Sou St. Marie, April 17th and 18th; MAER in Livonia, April 24th and 25th; Visions 2008 in Ypsilanti, May 14th: NFB and ACB this fall are also places you can come to see the MEE Bus and it’s great adaptive technology. Remember, MEE represents over 20 manufacturers and with the addition of wireless connection on the bus, we always have an internet connection. It’s a complete tech show. We can accommodate 6 persons comfortably at one time on the bus.
5. With IEP(s) or end of year budget coming up, I want you to know that many of our items are either in stock or only 1 or 2 days from you. We’ve implemented a new ordering system and I am hopeful that items will be shipped or delivered quickly. With the exception of the Tiger Braille Printer equipment, our manufacturers have stocked for the end of school or rehab year needs.

7. Additional trainings are being offered in Ann Arbor at our new cooperative training site located at the Washtenaw Library for the Blind and Physically Disabled.
